Seems this summer has been a season of Augusts, and with little rain, a lake, pool or the beach look mighty good! Certainly makes one wonder what our “normal” August is going to do. But what might the summer do to our skin?Walker County Agent Meredith Henry, whose expertise is family and consumer sciences, spoke to the master gardeners at their August monthly meeting about the need for us to take care of our skin this summer. One might think we have heard the information plenty of times but really now, can we hear it enough? According to Henry, Texans have a one in three chance for skin cancer. Further, skin cancer rates are rising every decade.
